people always ask what's next?

why? i feel like asking what your next step or place or idea is negates your present state ... makes it a little less important ... but then again what's next is a question of ambition. so which is more important? your blossoming present or your ambitious future? how do you balance the two?

It could also be about excitement of completing something and eagerness to feel capable and useful again :).

"What's next?"
"Now."

While you're smelling the roses of your blossoming present you can also appreciate the buds that will become your ambitious future. :-)

Enjoying, appreciating and acknowledging the work you did that led you to this moment is a good thing.

I always look towards the future and always try to find ways to improve on the things I've done in the past. It's an equal balance.

I think you need to pay attention to the future without forgetting about the present. If you're always looking ahead, you don't take time to appreciate what you have around you. But at the same time, you need to have some sort of ambition and drive in life.

How to achieve that balance, I really don't know. I don't even know what I'm saying. I just thought your question was pretty interesting and had to comment!
